Van Rentals and Beaches in Los Angeles Overview

Get your van rental today!

Los Angeles has a number of beaches close by that you can visit with your van rentals during your trip. With over twenty beaches in the area, you are sure to enjoy a day of fun in the sun.

Spend a day with the family

One of the best beaches in the area to go with kids and your van rental is Redondo Beach. They have a lot of sand where kids can play and there is a lifeguard on duty during daylight hours. There is also a bike path and volleyball courts. The surfing here is not very good, so there is a lot of room for people to swim. However, the beach does get busy in the summer and the water quality can be poor during the wet season, so be sure to make sure it is safe to swim (which it is most of the time). Redondo Beach is next to the Redondo Pier at the end of Torrance Boulevard. You can get here with your van rental by taking the I-110 or the I-405 to Hawthorne Boulevard. There is parking at the pier, as well as limited parking on the street.

Make the experience personal

Paradise Cove in Malibu is a great place to visit with your van rental if you are looking for a quiet experience. This is a small beach just off Highway 1, framed by bluffs. This is a private beach, so there is a per-person fee for coming here, as well as a parking fee for your van rental. This can be good because it keeps some people away, making your experience here a little more private. There is also a restaurant here. It can be a little pricey, but the portions are big, so consider splitting a meal with someone.

Surf’s up

Zuma Beach is one of the best beaches for surfing in the Los Angeles area with your van rental. Located just north of Malibu, the waves are good and the water is clear. There is also good boogie-boarding and body-surfing. The water here is a little colder because it is further north. If you don’t want to make the trip to Malibu, Manhattan Beach is closer to the city. Manhattan Beach was once the hang out for the Beach Boys and the birthplace of beach volleyball. There is also an aquarium on the pier here that you can visit for a break from the sun. Like many other beaches in the area, the water is good in dry weather, but during the wet season it can be poor. Check out the water quality before heading over with your van rental.

Watch the world go by

Venice Beach in West Los Angeles on the Santa Monica Bay is a great place to visit with your van rental to people watch. The sidewalk is where you will find artists, palm readers, roller skaters, and many other people enjoying their day. The outdoor weight room is another interesting place to see. This is where Arnold Schwarznegger and other body builders have bulked up. You can even buy a day pass to try it yourself.

Los Angeles has a number of great beaches that you can visit with your van rental while you are in the Los Angeles area. Whether you are looking for public or private beaches, they are here. Be sure to check the water quality when you plan on swimming because the water may not be good to swim in during the wet season.
