A glamorous city full of glamorous people deserves to have a venue that's... well, glamorous! That's why the Kodak Theatre was built back in 2001 at the heart of the Hollywood & Highland Center. Built at a cost of nearly $94 million, the Kodak Theatre was designed to house some of the movie industry's most prestigious events, most specifically, the Academy Awards. Elaborately designed and flawlessly constructed, the Kodak Theatre is a modern masterpiece of architecture and interior design. So don't miss y our chance to get glam during your upcoming minivan rental vacation - plan to visit the Kodak Theatre during your California getaway.
Introducing a first-class live entertainment venue
Since opening its doors in 2001, the Kodak Theatre is hosted a handful of spectacular live events. These have included concerts, awards shows and various touring Broadway productions. Minivan rental travelers may recognize the venue from shows like the AFI Lifetime Achievement Awards, the Daytime Emmy Awards and the BET Awards. The American Idol finals have also taken place here, along with concerts by Celine Dion, Prince, Barry Manilow and Stevie Wonder. The Kodak Theatre provides the perfect backdrop for these awesome events, thanks to atmosphere of subtle sophistication and extreme excitement.
A feast for the eyes
For minivan rental travelers, the Kodak Theatre experience begins outside the Hollywood & Highland Center in front of the Kodak Theatre's front door. Here, you'll see a towering portal, which serves as the venue's grand entrance. Just past the portal, you'll find a two-story Awards Walk, which features backlit glass plaques for all Oscar Winning Best Pictures. From there, a sweeping staircase welcomes minivan rental customers into the theatre. Once inside, you'll find a second staircase located at the center of the five-level theatre lobby. Architectural highlights in the main lobby area include cherry wood balustrades, topped by an oval, uplit silvery dome. The main audience chamber boasts a silver-leafed "tiara", which both supports and disguises the theatre's immense ceiling grid. Sumptuous details like plush fabrics and spacious seats add to the comfort and ambience of this venue, while bright lights and gold details capture Hollywood's allure.
Take a tour of Hollywood's handsome new home
Minivan rental travelers are invited to "step beyond the red carpet" during their upcoming visit to the Kodak Theatre, thanks to unique venue tours. On the tour, you'll get to see an Oscar statuette, visit the George Eastman VIP room and view images from previous Academy Awards ceremonies. Tours are available seven days a week at the theatre, beginning at 10:30am and continuing until 2:30pm every afternoon. Hours are extended from June 1 to August 31 until 4pm. Tours are just $15 for adults and $10 for seniors and children. Minivan rental travelers can purchase tickets at the Kodak Theatre Box Office up to seven days in advance. Please note that tours depart every half hour from the Level 2 entrance and last for about 30 minutes.
A trip to Hollywood wouldn't be complete without a visit to the home of Oscar and the Academy Awards.
