The Long Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau was established in 1982 to contribute to the economic development of the city. They are a great resource for finding out what is happening in the city and to offer some great deals when you visit with your van rental.
Where the fun action begins and the fun never ends
Long Beach has many attractions to keep you busy with your van rental. From the Queen Mary to the Aquarium of the Pacific and a lively nightlife, Long Beach is a great destination for the entire family. They are also conveniently located near other Southern California attractions such as Catalina Island, Disneyland, Universal Studios, and Hollywood.
Pack for the weather
Long Beach is a great place to visit with your van rental because there are about 345 days of sunshine each year. Whether you are escaping the winter chill or have a mid-summer getaway, you will find the temperature is generally comfortable (70-80 degrees) and the breeze off the ocean makes it ideal.
Island hop
Catalina Island is located close to Long Beach with your van rental. The island is a very pretty place to visit, and it is easy to get there by hopping on a cruise from the Port of Long Beach. Life slows down a little, so you can relax and enjoy your day. Shopping along the ocean front, enjoying local restaurants, and taking a tour of the interior of the island to see wild buffalo are all major draws. Or, visit the beach for the crystal blue waters that you can see while snorkeling or kayaking.
Go out in style
The Queen Mary is a 1936 ocean liner that is permanently docked at Long Beach. Twice the size of the Titanic, it was the fastest ship in the world from 1936 until 1952. You can see what it was like to travel in luxury at this time, before airplanes became the norm.
Get fit
Many of the beaches have great activities for you to get fit while you have fun. Alamitos Beach has a 3.1 mile Shoreline Pedestrian Bike Path for bikes and walkers. You can rent skates and bikes here for a fun day at the beach. Bayshore Beach also has basketball, volleyball, and handball courts for you to enjoy when you visit with your van rental. Marine Park is known as “Mother’s Beach” because many families bring small children here. You can have fun with the whole family when you visit with your van rental in the shallow, clam waters. There are lifeguards on duty during the day as well.
Long Beach is one of the biggest cities that you can visit with your van rental in California, so there is always a lot to do here with the family. Some of the attractions here include the Aquarium of the Pacific, the Queen Mary, and the Long Beach Marina. The city is conveniently located on the Pacific Coast Highway, making it an ideal location to start with your van rental to explore Southern California.
