Exhibit highlights inside the zoo compound include the Chimpanzees of the Mahale Mountain habitat, the Red Ape Rainforest and the World of Birds show. The Los Angeles Zoo even had a climate controlled Pachyderm Forest exhibit made specifically for their hippo and elephant population. Other exhibits worth checking out during your upcoming Airport Van Rentals visit include the new Mandrills exhibit (one of the world’s largest and most colourful baboons) and the Silverback Gorilla habitat.
Helping save the planet, one animal at a time
The Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens proudly participates in a number of conservation projects, helping preserve some of the world’s most critically endangered species. Special attention is often paid to programs that target the wild counterparts of animals currently in the Zoo’s collection. Some of these programs include the Peninsular Pronghorn Recovery Program, and the Visayan Warty Pig Project. The Los Angeles Zoo is also involved in the hugely successful California Condor Recovery Program, which focuses primarily on the captive breeding and reintroduction of condors into the wild. Since the 1980s, the Los Angeles Zoo has helped to breed more than 138 condors, increasing the world’s population from 27 birds to 289. While most the animals are the main attraction at the Los Angeles Zoo, the Botanical Gardens also provide visitors with a unique look at native Los Angeles species. Customers of Airport Van Rentals can visit the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens every day of the year (except December 25). Regular hours are from 10am to 5pm (animals start to be put in for the night at 4pm). Admission to the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens is just $10 for adults, $7 for seniors and $5 for Children 2 to 12. Children under the age of 2 are admitted free of charge.
