The Santa Monica Visitor and Convention Bureau is a great resource for you when you are exploring the area with your van rental.
See all you can see
Santa Monica is the ideal location to visit with your van rental because of the golden beaches and Pacific coastline, shopping, cuisine, and much more. Santa Monica is close to Los Angeles, but it is still the quintessential urban beach community that you can visit with your van rental. The Santa Monica Visitor Information Center is located at 1920 Main Street, Suite B. When you visit with your van rental, the staff here will provide you knowledge about accommodations, restaurants, attractions, nightlife, the arts, and much more. They also have information about sightseeing and walking tours, special events, and souvenirs to take home from your trip. There are also a number of Information Kiosks in Palisades Park and Third Street Promenade.
Walk it out
The Third Street Promenade is a good place to start with your van rental. There are a number of restaurants and shops along here, as well as walking tours that will take you through 130 years of history. The tours take place on Saturdays at 10 a.m. Some of the things that you will see on the tour include the 1875 Rapp Saloon, which opened the year the city was founded; the Majestic Theatre; the Keller Block; Bay Cities Guaranty Building, the first skyscraper in the city; and the El Miro Theater among others.
Life is a beach
Many people visit Santa Monica because of the world famous beaches here. Santa Monica Beach is about 3.5 miles long and has long represented the California lifestyle. When you visit with your van rental you will have many activities to choose from. Of course there is swimming in the ocean, as well as beach volleyball and sun bathing. There is also a long bike path – in fact, the longest bike path in the world begins in Santa Monica and goes for 22 miles to Torrance. For bikers or roller bladders, this is a great way to see the southern Pacific Coast from outside your van rental.
Take it to another level
Many people think Los Angeles and New York City could be two different worlds, but at Santa Monica Beach you will find a chess park that is similar to the ones you will find in Washington Square Park in New York. You can play at one of these chess tables when you visit with your van rental, or just watch an intense game while you are here. There is even a human size board painted on the sidewalk for kids.
Have a little fun
Some of the other attractions in Santa Monica to visit with your van rental are Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier, which is the only admission-free amusement park in the Los Angeles area. There are twelve rides here, including the signature Ferris Wheel.
