After Hours Returns

The Suttle is provided by The Wyndham Hotel to and from the airport. You need to notify the Wyndham at 281-548-1402 for a scheduled pick up or drop off, 30 to 40 mintees of your flight. There is no cost for the transportation to the airport or pick up. Please text us at 346-364-9859 / email [email protected] with a picture of the vehicle being dropped off @ The Wyndham Hotel. You need to make sure you park the vehicle in a secure area of the Wyndham Hotel, lock the vehicle, and proceed inside to the Front Desk, and inform them you are dropping off a vehicle for AVR Van Rental

Cross-Border Restrictions

Our company permits the crossing of our vehicles into Mexico, subject to the purchase of adequate insurance coverage. This insurance is available for purchase at a rate of $65 per 24-hour period while the vehicle is in Mexico. It is the responsibility of the vehicle renter or driver to obtain this insurance at the time of booking or pickup. At this time, we do not permit our vehicles to be taken across the border into Canada. To ensure that the insurance coverage purchased is effective for any incidents occurring in Mexico, it is imperative that all such incidents are reported while the vehicle is still within the country. Failure to promptly report incidents in Mexico may result in the insurance coverage being deemed void, and the renter or driver may be held personally liable for any damages or losses incurred.

Driving Restrictions

Renters must be 21 years or older to rent. Rates listed online are for 25 years and older. A valid driver license and valid payment card must be presented at time of pick-up. Age 21-24 -Underage fee of $25/day applies to any driver under the age of 25 no exceptions Additional Drivers are subject to a $11.95/day per driver additional driver fee. All additional drivers will need to qualify by presenting a valid driver’s license and additional contact information. The minimum age for additional drivers is 21. Underage fees apply to any driver under the age of 25, no exceptions. We offer one free additional driver in CA locations only. AVR will provide hand controls at no additional charge. A 72 Hrs. advanced notice is required, and renter needs to contact the location directly by phone prior to rental. AVR offers nationwide one-way drop-offs for a fee. Please contact your renting office for pricing details. AVR Van Rental offers the purchase of Mexico Insurance, on vehicle rentals. Mexico insurance required to be purchased at the AVR location 48 hours prior to travel to Mexico. The rate is $50.00 per calendar day including tax. AVR will charge a hold of $200.00 as a security deposit, and local Renters must provide proof of residency (Current Utility Bill with no past due balance of 30+ days) the utility bill must match the license. Travelers may provide a copy of their round-trip ticket. This deposit may take up to 14 days for a credit to appear back on your account due to bank processing standards. ***Airport Van Rental prohibits our rental vehicles for being used in commercial aspects, without prior written consent from the owner. Any parties found in violation of this policy will void the current contract and be will be charged at a higher rate based on the vehicle rented and $0.69/mile + taxes/fees. Financial Policy

Amex, Discover, MasterCard and Visa Credit card/ Debit card policy: Debit card must have a Visa or MasterCard logo. Debit card/Credit card and driver’s license must be in same name. Required at time of rental. AVR will charge the amount of the rental and an additional $200.00 as a security deposit. Unused funds upon return will be credited back to the card. This process may take up to 14 days for a credit to appear back on your account due to bank processing standards Debit card must be bank-issued with a Visa or Master Card logo. At time of rental, debit card will be processed for the estimated total charges plus $200 refundable security deposit. Air arriving customers using a debit card must provide a round trip airline ticket that brackets the rental dates. Local renters must provide proof of residency (current utility bill or pay stub) and a copy of personal vehicle insurance, if applicable.

Local Traveller Restrictions

Local Renters are defined as living within a 120-mile radius of the renting location. Local renters are subject to a 375 miles per day allowance on all vehicle classes, with a 3,000 mile total mileage cap on the rental. Miles in excess of 375 per day allowance will be charged at $0.25 per mile. Miles in excess of the 3,000 total mileage cap will be charged at $0.50 per mile regardless of length of rental unless authorized in writing by AVR Leadership.

Mileage Limitations

For all vehicle classes, local renters are granted a daily mileage allowance of 375 miles. The total mileage allowance for the entire rental period is capped at 3,000 miles. Should a renter exceed the daily 375-mile allowance, a fee of $0.25 per additional mile will be charged. If the total mileage for the rental exceeds the 3,000-mile cap, a fee of $0.50 per additional mile will be imposed, regardless of the rental duration. Exceptions to these charges may be granted only with written authorization from AVR Leadership.

Pick-up Instructions

AVR is a short shuttle ride from the Airport. Once you have collected your luggage, please call (281) 616-7471 for pick up. Proceed to the Shuttle pick up area located outside the terminal, and wait for a Wingate Shuttle bus. Shuttle bus will arrive within approximately 10 - 15 minutes.

Plate Pass

Under the toll program, customers have several options to not use the OnePass® service. Customers may use their own personal transponder in the vehicle to pay for any tolls. Customers may pay in cash. Customers may avoid toll roads altogether. Customers should know that some toll roads are now cashless, and no longer accept cash payments. Customers accepting the OnePass® Unlimited Plan agree to pay $12.95 per each day of the Rental, for which all tolls will be covered with no additional charges. If customer declines and still incurs a toll not paid by the Customer, then Customer agrees to pay the amount of each toll plus a $15.00 Daily Usage Fee for each day tolls are incurred, up to a maximum of $75.00 per rental agreement. Tolls will be charged at the highest posted, non-discounted cash rate. These charges will typically occur within 3-6 weeks after the rental has been completed and will be charged by our toll administrator GTS (Global Toll Services) with whom we will share your rental information with.

Renter Qualifications

Renters must be 21 years or older to rent. Rates listed online are for 25 years and older. A valid driver's license and valid payment card must be presented at the time of pick-up. International Driver License: Valid International driver's license is required. International renters must provide proof of full coverage insurance valid in the United States. Insurance must be obtained prior to or at the time of rental. There are no charges for cancellations made over 48 hours prior to your rental period. If you need to cancel within this 48-hour window before your rental time, however, a one-day rental fee will apply. To prevent incurring any extra fees, we kindly request that you cancel your reservation directly through the booking platform you used. It's important to note that renters who fail to cancel before the rental day will be held liable for the total rental cost. Please also keep in mind that any prepaid rentals are not subject to refunds. AVR has the right to cancel reservations booked due to errors or unforeseen issues, including prepay. Grace Period We offer a 30 minute grace period after your scheduled return time listed on your contract. Late Returns or Extensions: Any late returns or extensions can be subject to a higher daily or weekly rate with a $25 extension fee. Please check with your renting office if you need to extend your rental. Delayed Pickups Reservations will be honored for 2 hours after your scheduled pickup time only. Please make sure to call your renting office if you are going to be delayed more than 2 hours.
